Short Block Privacy Policy

1. Overview

"Short Block" (hereinafter "the App") is a digital detox application designed to encourage users to voluntarily stop watching short-form videos by gradually dimming the screen over time.
The App requires no account registration and does not transmit or store any personal information to external servers. All settings data is stored exclusively in local storage on the user's device.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Timer settings (Phase 1, Phase 2, and Keep phase start times)
• Filter intensity setting (Mild, Standard, or Hard)
• Pause duration setting
• Monitored app ON/OFF settings
• Custom monitored app list (Premium plan)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• App detection via Accessibility Service: Used to detect when short-form video screens (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc.) are displayed. Detected information is used solely for on-device overlay control and is never transmitted externally.
• Advertising identifiers and device information: Used by Google AdMob for ad delivery and measurement.

• Detecting short-form video viewing time and displaying the overlay filter
• Retaining user settings such as timer and filter intensity
• Providing continuous background monitoring via Foreground Service
• Ad delivery and measurement (Google AdMob)

4. Accessibility Service

The App uses the Accessibility Service for the following purposes:

• To detect transitions to short-form video screens on YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and similar apps in milliseconds
• To detect when the user leaves the short-form video screen (returns to the home screen or switches to another app) and reset the timer

All information obtained via the Accessibility Service is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted or shared externally.
This permission is used solely for the App's purpose of reducing excessive short-form video viewing and for no other purpose.

5. System Alert Window Permission

The App uses the System Alert Window permission to display a transparent-to-semi-transparent black overlay on top of other apps (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.). This permission is used solely for filter display purposes and is not used for any other purpose.

6. Foreground Service

The App runs an Android Foreground Service to maintain continuous background monitoring. This service is displayed in the notification bar, and users can pause or disable it at any time from the settings screen.

7. Sharing Information with Third Parties

We do not share personal information with third parties, except in the following cases:

• When required by law
• With the user's explicit consent

8. Third-Party Services

These third-party services collect and process information according to their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their data handling practices.

9. Data Retention

• Timer, filter, and other settings: Retained until the App is uninstalled (local storage only)
• Custom app list (Premium plan): Retained until the App is uninstalled (local storage only)

10. Data Deletion

Since the App does not retain data on any server, uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data.

11. International Data Transfers

Use of third-party services such as Google AdMob may result in advertising-related data being transferred to countries outside your own. These service providers maintain appropriate data protection measures.

12. Children's Privacy

Users under the age of 13 require parental consent. Parents and guardians are responsible for appropriate supervision of the App's use.
